What is "service learning"? Service-Learning combines service experiences with learning objectives with the goal of improving the lives of both the recipient and the provider of the service. This is accomplished by combining service tasks with structured opportunities that encourage self-reflection, self-discovery, personal growth, and the acquisition of values, skills, and knowledge. Through Service-Learning students develop the skills needed for productive citizenship. Students will register through SHS summer school and the trip will be treated as a summer school course. Upon completion of curricular requirements, each student will receive one semester P/F credit with a "service learning" designation on the Stevenson transcript.
